The American with Disablilites Act (ADA) was signed into law on July 26, 1990. The ADA is the landmark disability legislation that helps ensure that individuals living with disabilities can lead independent, self-sufficient lives in their communities. The ADA prohibits discrimination based on disability. It ensures that reasonable accommodations must been made to the known limitations of a person with a disability.
