Who is a Caregiver? A caregiver is anyone who provides attention and care to a loved one, whether it is a family member or a friend. A caregiver can be young or old.

Information
Knowledge is Power (KIP) is an educational program conducted through the mail. Each week for six weeks, participants receive articles and supplemental materials relating to a variety of topics. Although this information was developed for people newly diagnosed with MS, it is open to everyone. Call 800-344-4867, option 1 to sign up for KIP.
Self Help Groups
Self-Help Groups can be a great place to share support and resources. There are several Self-Help Groups throughout the state for family members and friends of people with MS. To find out if there is a Self-Help Group for caregivers in your area call 800-344-4867, option 1.
Respite Care
The National MS Society, Michigan Chapter, is offering financial assistance services to address the needs of individuals with multiple sclerosis and their families. One area this program assists chapter members is Respite Care, care when the usual caregiver is temporarily unavailable because of travel, illness or other demands. Advocate! At the National MS Society-Michigan Chapter, we are proud of the support and programs that we provide for caregivers.
