The National MS Society observed MS Awareness Week March 2 to 8 as part of a nationwide effort to engage new people in the MS movement. During the week, hundreds of people in Minnesota and western Wisconsin canvassed their communities with events, “street teams” and other activities to raise awareness about the disease.
Also in Minnesota, people with MS, volunteers, fundraisers and activists drew attention to the cause with a high-energy, all-orange photo shoot, led by photographer Antonio Collodoro on Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis.
On the national stage, the week was marked by the first ever federal MS Awareness Week Resolution in Congress and received national media attention with public service announcements airing on digital billboards in Times Square and coverage on NBC’s Today Show, ABC’s Good Morning America and the CBS Early Show.
