Challenge Walk MS comes to a close at state Capitol Sunday
Challenge Walk MS: Twin Cities 2009 — a three-day, 50-mile, or two-day, 30-mile walk to help end multiple sclerosis — came to a close Sunday, Sept. 13, at the state capitol in St. Paul. Walkers completed the final leg of the route with a police-escorted mass finish down Summit Avenue to the steps of the Capitol.
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society anticipates walkers in the eighth annual event have raised more than $300,000 to help create a world free of MS. Funds raised through the event help fund vital MS research projects all around the world and support programs and services for the nearly 10,000 people living with the disease in Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
Challenge Walk MS features the very best the Twin Cities, including the Minneapolis chain of lakes and historic neighborhoods of St. Paul. New this year, the Minnesota Chapter also offered a two-day, 30-mile route, which began Saturday, Sept. 12.
