"Multiple Sclerosis: The Questions You Have, The Answers You Need" by Candy B. Harrington
Overall Rating:

This book is important because "It covers a very wide range of topics, and each chapter is written by a different expert. It’s useful for someone in any stage of the disease, or for someone who does not have MS but is trying to gain a better understanding of it." — Jone

Summary: The book is divided into four distinct but related sections: 1) a useful overview of MS, answers to frequently asked questions and discussion of symptoms; 2) whole range of treatment and strategies; 3) issues related to family; 4) issues to consider now that affect you in the future.
Recommend because … : It is very comprehensive and it is organized in a very helpful question and answer manner. Also, following every chapter are very useful “recommended readings” and “recommended resources” sections.
Favorite part: This book discusses issues that are rarely covered in other books about MS. For example, there are very interesting chapters on “complementary and alternative medicine,” medicinal marijuana and MS in children. Such issues more from the well trodden ground covered in other books.
Other comments: Perhaps the only negative point I might make is that because it tries to cover such a broad range of topics, the book is often repetitious when it touches upon similar issues in each chapter.

Summary: Written by many experts in the field of MS, the book covers many of the questions an individual with MS may have. It creates an honest dialogue between the reader and the author.
Recommend because … : It covers a very wide range of topics, and each chapter (or the majority of them) is written by a different expert. It’s useful for someone in any stage of the disease, or for someone who does not have MS but is trying to gain a better understanding of it.
Favorite Part: The question and answer format. I also thought the recommended resources at the end of chapter 10 was very extensive. And the fact that it was written by several authors was appealing, since it expressed a wide range of experiences and knowledge.
Other comments: I feel much more informed about MS after reading this book.

Summary: Vast questions and answers on MS from symptoms, diagnosis, and treatments for MS.
Recommend because … : It helps clarify a lot of questions and answers regarding many of the MS issues.
Other comments: Too big of a book for my hands.
