Chore Services Grant

Are you thinking about how you’ll shovel your driveway this winter? Do you need some extra help around the house? The Minnesota Chapter is here to help.

Sometimes, MS can make it difficult to keep up with daily chores and home or property maintenance. The Chore Services Grant provides limited financial assistance to help people with MS pay for daily chore services, property maintenance and more. This program can help people with MS remain independent in their own homes for a longer period.

The following guidelines apply:

  • This program is for people with MS who are not eligible for PCA or other chore services offered through state or county programs.
  • You must be a registered member of the Minnesota Chapter to participate in this program.
  • The Chore Services Program can be used for, but is not limited to:
    • Small household chores
    • Meal preparation
    • Laundry assistance
    • Routine yard maintenance
    • Snow removal
    • Housekeeping
    • Errands
  • The chapter reimburses up to a maximum of $750 per client, per fiscal year (Oct. 1 through Sept. 30) or until funds run out.
  • A written confirmation of an MS diagnosis and a prescription from your doctor stating your need for these services is required.
  • Service providers must be licensed and insured.
  • Payment will be made directly to the service provider.
  • Before the Minnesota Chapter provides an authorization for services, a "Chore Services Management Plan" and waiver must be completed and mailed or faxed to the chapter office.
  • The Chore Services Grant is a first come, first-served process based on available funds.
