New Members Join Board for Gateway Area Chapter

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NATIONAL MS SOCIETY ELECTS NEW MEMBERS TO BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The Gateway Area Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society recently elected four new members to serve on the Board of Trustees. The new members were unanimously elected at a recent board meeting.

Joining the Board are Lyle Gulley, Jr. of AHM Financial Group, LLC; Kristen Gulley Holton of AHM Financial Group, LLC; David Kodner of David M. Kodner Personal Jewelers; and Steven Poindexter of Lewis, Rice & Fingersh, L.C.

“We are extremely grateful to these dedicated individuals for their donation of time and expertise in helping us find a cure for multiple sclerosis (MS),” said Phyllis Robsham, president of the Gateway Area Chapter. “Each of them is going to be a great asset as we strive to meet our aggressive strategic goals.”

The Chapter has a long tradition of involving community leaders knowledgeable in health issues, advocacy and strategic planning as members for its Chapter Board of Trustees. The role of the Board is to provide governance, guidance and strategic planning to promote growth and ensure the Chapter is working toward its mission of mobilizing people and resources to drive research for a cure and to address the challenges of everyone affected by MS.

Multiple sclerosis interrupts the flow of information between the brain and the rest of the body and it stops people from moving. Every hour in the United States, someone is newly diagnosed with MS, an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system. Symptoms range from reduced or lost mobility to numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are moving us closer to a world free of MS.

The Gateway Area Chapter supports local and national research, and offers direct programs and services to more than 6,000 people living with multiple sclerosis in a 90-county service area covering eastern Missouri and the southern third of Illinois.
