For the past 23 years, the Tour to Tanglewood has concluded at the campground portion of Tanglewood Park. Following last year’s event, renovations have begun to improve and redesign this portion of the Park. We are excited to announce that the new finish line will take place at the Tanglewood Park amphitheatre!
For those familiar with the Park, you may recall the quarter mile road leading to the amphitheatre being spectacular with trees framing the way, but also gravel. Don’t worry—we know gravel and bikes don’t mix! Thanks to the exceptional partnerships and generosity of Vulcan Materials Company, Larco Construction, Thompson-Arthur Paving and Construction, the Village of Clemmons, and other community partners , the funds, materials and labor are being donated to pave the way to the finish. We are so grateful for their tremendous support and are thrilled that the road will make our event accessible for all participants and better the amphitheatre experience for everyone who utilizes it.
The new finish line location is nearly twice as large as our old site, lending to an EVEN BIGGER finish line celebration. We will have more room for fans to gather and cheer you on as you cross the finish line. The additional space will also give us more room to create a Team Village. Teams will be encouraged to bring their own team tents to set up and decorate in the spirit of the event. With access to an onsite amphitheatre, look for more live music and entertainment throughout the evening. Finally, camping is still available, and you will be able to continue the celebration even as scheduled activities have concluded! Unfortunately, with renovations to the main Park campground area, RV’s will not be able to access water and electricity this year, but we hope to have that option again in 2010.
