What is the Friendly Visitor Program?
Friendly Visitor Programs offer companionship to people with MS. People who are visited regularly decrease their social isolation, have someone to talk to, can be connected to chapter programs that might be beneficial, learn more about their disease, have someone who can check on their safety, and feel connected to their community.
Friendly Visitor Goals:
- Reaching out into the community to provide companionship to people living with multiple sclerosis who are socially isolated (either at home or in long-term facilities) and to increase their connection to their community.
- Offering National MS Society, Mid-Atlantic Chapter educational opportunities and client/family services to help maintain a good quality of life for people living with multiple sclerosis and their families.
Who will be served?
Service will be provided to individuals who have been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and are homebound or living in long-term care facilities.
Participation:
Participation is strictly voluntary and requires completion of a short program application.
