South Carolina MS Activist Volunteer Opportunities
Activism is a vital part of making a change in South Carolina. The Mid Atlantic Chapter relies heavily on MS Activist volunteers to make an impact in creating awareness and change in SC. The more voices we have, the stronger the message!
You can become a part of the change in South Carolina and Join the Movement! Here are some of YOUR opportunities:
South Carolina Government Relations Committee Member (SC GRC)--A SC GRC member actively identifies and addresses issues for people with MS in South Carolina. Once the issues are identified, the SC GRC member guides the advocacy process to improve the benefits, services, and quality of life for people living with multiple sclerosis in South Carolina.
Time Commitment: At least one year--number of hours depends on the time of year and legislative issues.
MS Activist Administrative Volunteer—A MS Activist Administrative Volunteer may work on researching a legislative issue through the Internet or other sources; write advocacy letters for the SC Action Alert Network, blog, or newsletter; maintain advocacy databases; help file information; make phone calls or send letters; etc
The tasks of a MS Activist Administrative Volunteer depend on the abilities and interests of the person. Many Activist volunteer tasks can be accomplished at home. This MS Activist Volunteer opportunity is very flexible and is developed to fit the needs of the volunteer.

The SC District Activist will alert the Chapter’s advocacy staff to local legislative activities when they arise.

South Carolina Action Alert Network Responder-- The Mid Atlantic Chapter advocates for people with MS through a grassroots lobbying effort called the SC Action Alert Network.
This network is composed of individuals who volunteer to receive e-mail messages concerning legislative issues and information that effect people with MS and their families. This team of activists has agreed to respond by contacting their legislator by e-mails, letters, telephone calls, or visits to discuss the issues that impact people with MS.
Through the SC Action Alert Network you will receive information about the NMSS’s Federal and State legislative issues. With this information you can contact you legislators to help increase our state’s awareness of MS. Click here to sign up. You must have e-mail to participate.
