Susie Sheftel has a daughter with MS and is always thinking of new and creative ways to raise money for MS research to find a cure. She has an incredible amount of energy and came out of the gate with a Bang! In 2008, Susie organized a Community Event in Charleston called the Boston Party. It was a successful new event that helped raise money and awareness for multiple sclerosis. Now Susie has found a way to combine her love of art, nature (especially frogs), and the environment through the creation of a unique line of jewelry called Schneblies. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Susie's Schneblies benefit the National MS Society. You can visit the Community Events section of our website to learn more about Susie’s unique frog pendants. |

Kathy Vanderbosch Grogan has been one of our chapter’s most committed volunteers since becoming involved with the MS Society. In 2006, she walked in the Charleston Walk MSand in January 2008 she and her husband and several of their friends helped host a Beat the Winter Blues party for people living with MS in the Charleston area. In the spring of 2008, Kathy and a group of her friends formed a Walk team – the Caring Hearts in Motion. They did an excellent job of fundraising – raising $3,259 as a first year team! Last summer Kathy assisted in a new chapter program in Charleston - What a Difference a Day Makes! MS Service Day. Kathy helped to recruit several key volunteers for the committee and recruited many to serve the day of the event. This year Kathy is captaining her walk team again and the team is well on their way to raising even more funds than last year. Kathy has recruited many volunteers and participants to our chapter from the Charleston area. She is making a huge difference in moving us closer to a world free of MS. |

Malinda Treacy joined as a volunteer with the Mid-Atlantic Chapter after walking on the Caring Hearts in Motion team during the 2008 Charleston Walk MS. She was eager to become more involved with the Chapter...and that she has! Malinda served as the Event Coordinator for the What a Difference a Day Makes! MS Service Day in October. In that position, she coordinated everything associated with the meeting location for volunteers on Service Day – the location, food, decorations, volunteer orientation, set-up/break down. Malinda went above and beyond in securing product and cash donations from restaurants, businesses and individuals. Malinda is walking again this year with the Caring Hearts in Motion and helping the chapter secure sponsorships for the Walk. Her goal this year is to raise $2000 for her walk team! |

He made it easy for the volunteer teams by providing them with everything they needed to complete their projects. Walter was an incredible asset to the Charleston MS Service Day Team. |
