Chapter Announces EMD Serono Pfizer as 2009 Walk MS Presenting Sponsor
The Eastern North Carolina Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society announces EMD Serono Pfizer as the 2009 Walk MS presenting sponsor. With their sponsorship EMD Serono Pfizer is partnering with the Society to fund research and advocacy, and provide quality programs and services to the over 4,600 individuals living with multiple sclerosis in eastern NC. The event’s fundraising goal is $830,000.
Triangle Walk MS is scheduled for Saturday, April 25 at the RBC Center. In addition to the one, three and five mile walks, the event will feature live entertainment, food vendors and kids’ activities. There will be a large team tailgating area where participants can enjoy the day’s festivities with their friends, family and co-workers.
“Walk MS would not be the success it is today without the support of our sponsors,” says Staci Barfield, Director of Development for the Eastern NC Chapter of the National MS Society. “We are thrilled to have EMD Serono Pfizer as our presenting sponsor and look forward to working together towards our $830,000 goal.”
Sponsorship opportunities range from Presenting Sponsor ($35,000) to Rest Stop Sponsor ($1,000). Sponsors of Walk MS are visible, recognized and celebrated for their partnership and commitment to achieving a world free of multiple sclerosis. MS research and programs are expensive, but community-supported events such as Walk MS allow the National MS Society to generate a significant amount of funding and provide an opportunity to engage the community in a successful and inspiring way.
“MS is the number one disabling disease among young adults,” explains Barfield. “When thousands of people dedicate time and energy to raise money, it gets us that much closer to creating a world free of MS.”
