The unique and inviting waterfront location of Union Point Park provides the perfect start and finish line for Bike MS. The coastal location, flat landscape, and miles of rural roads allow every level of cyclist to participate and enjoy their choice of a 30, 50, 75, or 100 mile route. All routes are fully supported with rest stops every 10-15 miles, support and gear vehicles (SAGS), medics, and bike mechanics. All four routes start and end at Union Point Park on Saturday and Sunday.
All 2012 routes will be posted in June 2012.
Additional Route Information:
Staggered Start
Cyclists will be lined up according to average speed and released in groups of about 100 riders every few minutes to minimize route congestion.
Cue Sheets
Printed cue sheets will be available in the Convention Center Ballroom at check-in during Bike MS weekend. These cue sheets will include an emergency number that you can call anytime during the ride to seek assistance.
Mechanics
If you find your bike needs some assistance during the ride, our participating bike shop mechanics will be at the start/finish and at each rest stop. Labor is free if you bike was inspected prior to the ride, but bring extra cash for parts. Please have your inspection sticker visible or available upon request.
Support and Gear Vehicles (SAG)
Special vehicles will be on the route to assist you. If you need help, pull off the road and give a thumbs down to the SAG vehicle and they will pick you up and move you forward to the next rest stop. The lunch rest stop will have a support vehicle dedicated to bringing cyclists back to the start/finish line if needed.
