Advocates Take to Trenton
Thursday, March 5th over 80 MS activists gathered at the State House in Trenton to make their mark against multiple sclerosis. The group took part in advocacy workshops and had the opportunity to discuss with legislators the issues that they face daily while living with multiple sclerosis. On this day the New Jersey State Assembly also presented a resolution recognizing the week of March 2-8 as MS Awareness Week. This resolution was presented to Chapter Presidents Michael Elkow of the New Jersey Metro Chapter and John Scott of the Greater Delaware Valley Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society by Assemblyman Greenwald and Assemblywoman Oliver. “As a Board member, attorney and patient, I silently sat with a tear in my eye as I was overwhelmed by the Assembly's ability to capture the very essence of the mission of our society and the battles that someone with MS faces on a daily basis”, says Nick Ruggiero member of the New Jersey Metro Chapter Board of Trustees.
