Multiple Sclerosis Society Looking for Participants to Help Make a Difference

Join the Movement.

The NJ Metro Chapter of the National MS Society Presents the 18th Annual Bike MS Fundraiser

New Jersey— The newly formed New Jersey Metro Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is looking for people to participate in this year’s Bike MS “Coast the Coast” Ride in an effort to create a world free of multiple sclerosis, a chronic disease of the central nervous system.

On May 16 and 17, The New Jersey Metro Chapter will kick of the first of three bike events to be held throughout the year. The “Coast the Coast” ride includes five rides that occur on both Saturday and Sunday. All funds raised from the event will support critical MS research programs and fund local programs and services for those who are impacted by the disease, including more than 13,000 people in New Jersey and more than 400,000 people nationwide.

On Saturday, May 16, there will be 25-, 50-, 85-, and 170-mile courses starting at the William T. Boylan Gym at Monmouth University. The 25- and 50-mile courses follow a loop through waterfront communities, while the longer courses will travel down the New Jersey Coast, breaking in Tuckerton, and continuing down to Victorian Cape May on Sunday. Participants are also welcome to join the ride in Tuckerton on Sunday morning where a second 85-mile trip down the coast will begin.

“We expect this year’s Coast the Coast ride to be larger and more rewarding than ever,” said Gina Murdoch, Vice President of Special Events for the National MS Society – New Jersey Metro Chapter. “We have recently merged the Mid-Jersey and Greater North Jersey Chapters, making the New Jersey Metro Chapter one of the biggest groups in the National MS Society. Our size, coupled with our determination and enthusiasm will help us make greater strides toward creating a world free of multiple sclerosis.”

Interested bikers are welcome to register online at bikenjm.nationalMSsociety.org.

In the past, events like Bike MS have helped the National MS Society contribute to effective research, community programs, and overall support to those affected by multiple sclerosis.
