Ocean County Town Hall Meeting Called

Meeting to discuss multiple sclerosis and the impact of the disease on those living locally

Toms River – On Friday, March 27th at 7:00pm the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, New Jersey Metro Chapter will host a Town Hall Meeting to discuss the impact of multiple sclerosis on those living locally. The meeting will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River, 1070 Hooper Avenue in Toms River. This program is designed for local residents to find out more about the society and the programs and services that are available to them. “This meeting will provide an opportunity for our friends who have MS and their families to meet with Chapter leadership to let us know what we are doing well and to inform us of other ways that may need our assistance” says Michael Elkow, New Jersey Metro Chapter President.

Every hour someone is diagnosed with MS, a chronic disease of the central nervous system for which there is no cure. Multiple sclerosis interrupts the flow of information between the brain and the body and stops people from moving. For some, this means living with unpredictable symptoms that can come and go, like numbness and blurred vision. For others, there is more permanent damage, like paralysis. For everyone impacted by MS, it means not knowing what the day will bring and always being prepared for the unexpected, making it difficult to move forward in life.
