Hops to Hops Bike MS Rolls through Western New Jersey

Cyclists Put the Pedal to the Metal to Help Create a World Free of Multiple Sclerosis

New Jersey – The New Jersey Metro Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society is looking for dedicated cyclists and volunteers to Join the Movement for the Bike MS “Hops to Hops” ride, Sunday, September 27th. Beginning and ending at the River Horse Brewing Company in Lambertville, NJ, cyclists will get a chance to test their endurance on the beautiful rolling hills of Amwell Valley – all while having the opportunity to directly benefit the lives of 13,000 people in New Jersey and 400,000 people nationwide suffering with MS.

Every hour someone is diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS); a chronic disease of the central nervous system for which there is no cure. Multiple sclerosis interrupts the flow of information between the brain and the body and can stop people from moving. For some, this means living with unpredictable symptoms that can come and go, like numbness and blurred vision. For others, there is more permanent damage, like paralysis. For everyone impacted by MS, it means not knowing what the day will bring and always being prepared for the unexpected, making it difficult to move forward in life.

You can be a part of helping those with MS move forward by coming out on September 27th. Cyclist registration will begin at 8:00 am and the ride will start promptly at 9:00am. At the end of the ride, upon the cyclists’ return to the River Horse Brewing Company, everyone will be invited to enjoy a beer tasting, hot pretzels and a bar-b-que.

To raise the funds necessary for the continuation of research and empowerment programs for people with MS, cyclists collect pledges for completing the ride. Money raised from the “Hops to Hops” Bike MS Ride will stay in the local area to provide programs and services for people affected by MS. A portion of the monies also go to fund critical research programs to find a cure for MS.

Cyclists and volunteers are welcome to register online at bikenjm.nationalMSsociety.org. Upon registering, cyclists will have access to online fundraising tools, making fundraising easier and more convenient than ever.
The Bike MS “Hops to Hops” is the third leg of the NJ Metro Chapter’s three-part Bike MS Ride Series. The “Coast the Coast” Ride took place in May of this year and the “The Great New Jersey County Ride will take place on September 12th and 13th in Morristown, NJ. For more information about Bike MS, please contact Mary Beth Maclearie at (732) 660-1005 or visit bikenjm.nationalmssociety.org.

End your summer with the most fun ride on two wheels! If you have never participated in one of the New Jersey Metro Chapter’s events, then hop to it and come out and see what the talk is all about! The Society is always looking for first-time cyclists and volunteers to join the legions of seasoned veterans for a fun and challenging ride. Make this summer’s destination something to remember for the rest of your life; cycle towards a world free of MS. Now is the time to join the movement.
