There are resources in the community that can be accessed for help in finding employment and/or in finding training opportunities for a new job. Over the course of several months in 2011, a series of free educational teleconferences focused on employment issues was presented.   • The New Jersey Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS) provides services that enable individuals with disabilities to find jobs or keep their existing jobs.You can learn more information from the website:  http://lwd.dol.state.nj.us/labor/dvrs/DVRIndex.html.   This resource is appropriate for individuals who are seeking training, re-training and general advice about the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and fair employment practices; it is also a good resource for employers, companies large and small who have questions about job accommodations for people with disabilities.   • The Job Accommodation Network (JAN) is the leading source of free, expert, and confidential guidance on workplace accommodations and disability employment issues.   • DiscoverAbility NJ is an organization that supports the employment of people with disabilities in NJ by providing resources, networking opportunities and ongoing professional development to staff working in the field of disability employment.   • The National Organization on Disability (NOD) is committed to increasing the employment rate of people with disabilities. To help job seekers with disabilities, NOD offers resources specifically addressing employment needs. http://nod.org/disability_resources/employment_resources/
     
  • The Regional Center for Disability Employment, known as the MOSAIC Center at Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands, was jumpstarted with a $500,000 grant from The Henry H. Kessler Foundation. The MOSAIC Center supports workers with disabilities throughout the region by providing job-training and placement services. It is housed at Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands, 1280 Wall Street West, Lyndhurst, but is open to all residents of NJ, regardless of the county you reside. http://www.bergen.edu/pages1/pages/4599.aspx.
