Until a cure is found, the North Central States Chapter and MS activists are currently pursuing:  

  • Health care reform
  • Improved community resources
  • Disability rights
  • Long-term care resources
  • Access to quality health care services
  • Increased funding for MS research
  • Accessible, affordable health insurance

State and Local Issues

Locally, volunteers and staff are working on the following initiatives:

  • Research and hiring a paid lobbyist for each state capitol in our chapter territory (Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota)
  • Long Term Care Initiative to partner with facilities that are interested in building a wing designated to MS residents

In Iowa:

  • Iowa State Income Tax Check Off to generate revenue for MS Research and Direct Financial Assistance in Iowa
  • Iowa Scratch Lottery Ticket to generate revenue for MS Research and Direct Financial Assistance in Iowa
  • Physical Disability Home and Community Based Waiver Services in Iowa

In South Dakota:

  • Out of pocket maximums and co-payments for MS drugs in South Dakota
