Volunteers needed for 2009 Walk MS in Sioux Falls, Aberdeen, Pierre, Watertown, and Rapid City.

SET-UP: Responsible for setting up all areas at Start/Finish including registration, food, and staging areas. May also include some route set up, including rest stops.
TEAM VILLAGE: Assist with the set up of the team village tents.
PARKING: Control access to parking areas, allowing only official vehicles to enter the property. Direct walkers and volunteers to the appropriate parking areas, and from parking to the start site. Maintain efficient traffic flow around the Walk site.
GREETER: Welcome walkers as they arrive at the Walk. Direct them to registration if needed. Mention that breakfast and team pictures area available.
CHEERLEADERS: Provide a 5 minute warm-up at start of the walk. Cheer on walkers along the route and at the Start/Finish line. Hand out stickers to walkers at the end of the walk.
ROUTE: Responsible for setting up and taking down route and mile markers.
REST STOPS: Distribute snacks and beverages at stops along the Walk route, and encourage Walkers. Includes set up prior to the event, and break down and clean up of the site after the event.
ROAD MARSHALS: Assist walkers across the street. Assist those in wheelchairs in the locations where there are no cuts in the curb. *you will not be directing traffic.
SAG/DRIVER: Drive van along route during walk to pick up walkers who would like to go back to start/finish before completing the walk.
REGISTRATION: Work behind the table to accept Walker pledge envelopes and medical ID bracelets. Stand in front of the table to ensure that every walker has filled out the appropriate information on their pledge envelopes and to increase the efficiency of the registration table.
BANKING: Work with MS staff to count and deposit walk pledges that are turned in the day of the walk.
RUNNERS: Transfer money from the Registration area to the Head Banking Room in the Capitol building using the satchels provided.
VOLUNTEER TABLE: Sign in volunteer, give green T-shirt, locate and direct them to the location where they have been assigned to work.
T-SHIRT TABLE: Distribute t-shirts to walkers who have turned in a minimum of $100 on the Day of the Walk. Distribute sweatshirts to walkers who have turned in a minimum of $200 on the Day of the Walk. (They will receive a shirt ticket at registration.)
MS INFO: Distribute National MS Society brochures and MS information to those interested in learning more about the mission, goals, and objectives of the Chapter.
LUNCH LINE: Assist vendors with the distribution of food and beverage at the Start/Finish Site. Includes set up and clean up duties.
CLEAN UP: Break down and clean up the Start/Finish area following the Walk.
There will be a list of all volunteers and positions at the volunteer check-in/t-shirt table. Please remember to sign-in, pick up your t-shirt and sign out.
