Self Help Groups

While every multiple sclerosis disease course is different, some aspects of the disease are present in other people. One way to discuss these aspects is by joining one of our Self Help Groups. These groups are meant to be a source of information and support to those in attendance. It is an environment for people to gather and share information. Some groups even ask various individuals in the community to come speak on topics where there are an educated professional and can offer current information and advice.

The local Self Help Group meeting information is:

Sparks- meets the first Wednesday of the month from 11:00am to 12:30pm at the Sizzler Restaurant in Sparks. Ask for Cheryl!

Reno- meets the 4th Thursday of the month from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Renown Rehab Hospital located at 555 Gould Street in Reno. Ask for Diane.

Also, if meeting people face to face is not something you may be interested in, we do offer Self Help Groups that are conducted over the phone. In this group, no one has to leave the house or go into public. For more information, please call 1-800-344-4867, option 1.

If the above groups don’t logistically work for your current situation and you would like to create another group, please let us know so we can assist in that process. There is no limit to the quantity of groups offered, as long as each group is productive and positive!
