COMMUNITY EVENTS
Have you ever wanted to JOIN THE MOVEMENT by hosting your own event to benefit people living with MS? Making a difference locally in the fight against MS is a relatively simple process.
Community Events are hosted by groups and individuals not officially affiliated with the National MS Society, and the Chapter bears little fiduciary responsibility in getting them organized. Every Community Event organizer must review the Third Party Event Guidelines and complete the Third Party Event Application to conduct a community event to benefit the National MS Society Long Island Chapter.

The money raised from your fundraising event helps provide many programs and services for people living with MS across Long Island, like Quality of Life services such as:
- Respite Care - this gives the caregiver a few hours of free time, a qualified aide will come into the home to take care of the person living with MS.
Funds can also be used for critical research:
- Promise 2010 - To encourage innovative research into highly promising areas and to improve MS patient care, the National MS Society launched the Promise: 2010 Campaign. This nationwide effort fueled by local MS chapters will raise at least $35 million to fund four targeted areas that hold great potential in the fight against the effects of MS, but which have so far been under-explored.
Fundraisers are also able to restrict money raised to LI Programs and Services. When we have a deficit in a particular program, we use that money to assist a member.
Your event also creates an important opportunity to educate the public about MS and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
