MS Activists Take Action in Albany

On February 2nd, MS Activists from the chapter traveled to Albany, NY to meet with legislators during the New York MS Coaltion Action Network's (NY MS CAN) annual Public Policy Conference. Six volunteers and two staff members conducted 14 visits with key legislators and executive staff following a legislative breakfast attended by representatives from 56 legislators' offices across New York state. The annual Public Policy Conference is an opportunity for MS Activists to bring the NY MS CAN's legislative agenda to as many NY State lawmakers as possible.
MS Activists host NYC-based legislators at Inaugural MS Legislative Reception
On January 15, 2009, the chapter's Government Relations Committee (GRC) co-hosted a legislative reception at the home of GRC member Anne Davis. Assembly Member Micah Kellner (above, left) hosted the event with the GRC and his support helped secure a robust attendance by NYC elected officials. GRC members were able to give voice to our federal, state and local concerns to legislators and their staff while also raising awareness about MS. Senator Tom Duane (pictured, center), newly appointed Chair of the Senate Health Committee, was also in attendance.
