About This Chapter

Our Programs Provide Hope and Services to Help Manage MS

Every hour of every day, one new person is diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system. MS affects more than 21,000 Oklahomans, 400,000 people in the United States and 2.5 million worldwide. MS stops people from moving. The National MS Society exists to make sure it doesn’t. The Oklahoma Chapter is committed to providing programs and services for Oklahomans affected by MS as well as fund research to find a cure.

The Board and staff of the Oklahoma Chapter are directed by a long-range strategic plan, which includes a promise to be Bold, Relevant, Inclusive, Transparent and Engaging - NOW - in order to better respond to the needs of Oklahomans who are impacted by MS. The mission of the National MS Society is to end the devasting effects of MS.

The Oklahoma Chapter was chartered in 1954 and has approximately 3,000 registered clients with a diagnosis of MS. Including clients, family, friends and associated, the chapter annually serves more that 21,000 people affected by the disease. The chapter currently manages a variety of programs, which range from information and education to self-help groups and financial assistance to assist clients across the continuum of MS. We offer programs that follow the Mutiple Sclerosis Internation Federation (MIF) Principles to Promote the Quality of Life of People with Multiple Sclerosis.
