Okalahoma Health Care Reform: Immediate Action Needed! Call your Senator!

Tuesday, July 28, 2009

Dear Oklahomans,

As the debate continues in Washington D.C. about Health Care Reform and deadlines draw near, one item upon which we can all agree; is that people living with MS - and those yet to be diagnosed - have a great stake in the outcome.

For many, the long wait for coverage, the caps and gaps in coverage, the loss of insurance due to a job change, create both financial and physical stress. The National MS Society understands and actively advocates for changes in the health care system, but they need our help. Our Oklahoma members of Congress have been vocal about their lack of support without regard to how real people in our state are handling their medical issues. This is not the time bicker over partisan politics. Health care issues affect both Republicans and Democrats alike. To do nothing about real issues is to lose ground in a battle where lives are impacted daily.

The National MS Society’s Principles support:

·         Accessible health care coverage
·         Affordable health care services and coverage
·         Standards for coverage of specific treatments
·         Elimination of disparities in care
·         Comprehensive, quality health care available to all
·         Increased value of health care
·         Access to high-quality, long-term supports and services

The United States health care system is broken. We spend more money per capita on healthcare than any other country with fewer positive outcomes. We must reassess how to more effectively promote health and wellness by restructuring the health care system to address the needs of all Americans.

Please take the time this week, to contact Senators Coburn and Inhofe. It is important they hear from you. Each phone call, each email is recorded. Please let Representatives Boren, Fallin, Lucas, Sullivan and Cole know that supporting Health Care Reform is the right thing to do - for all Oklahomans.

Support Comprehensive Health Care Reform

Monday, July 13, 2009

Request

Our nation is poised to move forward by reforming our ailing health care system. For health care reform to be successful, it must be comprehensive and meaningful. On behalf of people living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and other cronic diseases and disabilities, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society urges you to support comprehensive health care reform in the 111th Congress.

Position

Multiple Sclerosis is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system. Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. The progress, severity, and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted. The cost of disease modifying therapies and symptom treatments can be staggering, and they are not always covered by insurance.

Contact Congress today to show your support for comprehensive health care reform.

Thank you,

Candace Richerson
