United Way of the Capital Region-“Day Of Caring”
McKonly & Asbury team members joined volunteers from the United Way of the Capital Region, “Day of Caring,” on Friday, September 11, 2009, to spend the day working at the home of Jay Megonnell, client of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Central PA Chapter.
It was a rainy day!!! The McKonly & Asbury volunteer team members worked tirelessly in the pouring rain to cut, split and stack wood for Jay to use to heat his home this winter. Inside Jay’s home, the kitchen volunteer team prepared homemade chili and chocolate chip cookies for the crew of workers, staff on-hand from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Jay and his family. The leftover food was given to Jay to enjoy later!
Our chapter is extremely grateful to the United Way of the Capital Region and to the volunteers from McKonly & Asbury for a great day of collaboration with us to address the needs of our client! The successful execution of this day of service has assisted our organization to launch our new pilot program, “What a Difference a Day Makes.” Thank you for this exceptional day of service and kindness to those affected by multiple sclerosis! More to come on this new pilot project!
