MS clinical trials gain steam
Researchers are reporting positive results from two late-stage clinical trials of cladribine and fingolimod, oral therapies for relapsing MS. Both therapies reduced the relapse rate of trial participants to about 20% and are expected to be filed with regulators later this year. Scientists also met recently in Amsterdam to discuss how to detect nervous system protection and repair in people with MS during clinical trials - without having to wait possibly years to observe a person's disease progression. Click here to learn more about their findings.
"We're at a turning point in MS, and clinical trials are on the horizon to test new strategies for repairing or protecting the nervous system in people with MS," said John Richert, MD, Executive Vice President of Research & Clinical Programs at the Society.
