Purpose: Due to the inherent risks that come with taking part in a cycling event, there are occasional accidents that result in a participant being transported to a local hospital. The National MS Society is committed to ensuring that injured cyclists get all the support they need during this difficult time. Situations Team Members make this possible.

Throughout Ride weekend, ST Members are dispatched to any area hospital to which an injured cyclist is transported. ST Members are assigned to patients for whom they are responsible until the cyclist is released. ST Members may ultimately be responsible for several cyclists. This position spans the entire weekend of the Ride, from start to finish. Shifts may be available.
Ideal Characteristics: Caring, patient, empathetic, flexibility, calm, resourceful
Skill Sets: Ability to navigate on and off-route to area hospitals, act as a Society spokesperson, display sound judgment, take direction, keep open lines of communication with Society staff and multitask.
Qualifications: 2-3 years experience as past Bike MS volunteer or cyclist, experience in the health care field or ER setting is an added bonus.
