Position Overview
Licensed, professional counselors will agree to take one client with multiple sclerosis pro bono per year.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide counseling support to an individual or family in need
- Communicate any needs/issues of clients back to chapter staff
- Agree to receive ongoing professional education and training on multiple sclerosis
Initial Impact:
Depression and emotional issues are a significant unmet need of our population. Many clients cannot afford ongoing counseling. This will help alleviate these issues in the short term.
Sustained Outcome:
This will give those clients who are most in need access to the emotional support that is critical in experiencing a positive quality of life.
Training:
Training will be provided by chapter.
Support:
The volunteer will be supported by the chapter staff in the services department. Bi-monthly conference calls to discuss issues or concerns will also be available.
Commitment:
One client ongoing for as long as the client needs
Qualifications:
- Licensed counselor with professional credentials
- Enthusiastic
- Has malpractice insurance
- Dependable
