Get Ready To ‘Move it’ in March for MS Awareness Week
The theme for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s MS Awareness Week 2009 (March 2-8) is “Move it.” The Allegheny District Chapter will mark the occasion with a variety of exciting activities. But the critical question is: What’s on your calendar?
Each and every passionate person who desires to see a world free of MS is invited to “Move it” in March. In other words: Take time to do something to show your commitment to a cure. That can be as simple as wearing your MS pin or bracelet or T-shirt. You can form a bike, walk or participate in another fundraising event. You can email or write or visit your local legislator. You can also talk to friends or co-workers or potential donors about MS. It all adds up to create one big MS buzz that’s impossible to ignore. How do you get started? It’s easy. Visit the Allegheny District Chapter web site at nationalMSscoiety.org/PAX to review the MS Awareness Week toolkit. From there, make plans to participate or support these key MS Awareness Week events:
♦ Monday, March 2nd: MS Awareness Day at the State Capital Building.
♦ Monday, March 2nd: BINGO at Patterson Twp. Volunteer Fire Department
♦ Wednesday, March 4th: Altoona Branch Office Open House
♦ Thursday, March 5th: Bike MS/Walk MS Participant Center Training
All Week Activities:
♦ Bike MS/ Walk MS Team Week – Recruit your friends and family to join your team for Walk MS or Bike MS! Recruit the most for some fun prizes!
♦ Southwest U.G.L.Y. Bartender Campaign – Visit your local participating establishment during this week & support their fundraising efforts for MS! Find out who’s participating by visiting the U.G.L.Y. Bartender page on the Chapter website.
Stop moving for one minute and show your support for people with MS. Put the orange MS spotlight as City Councilman Bruce Krause will issue a City Proclamation for MS Awareness Week on Tuesday March 3rd at 10 am. Throughout MS Awareness Week the Bayer sign on Mt. Washington will run an add to Join the Movement.
One final reminder: As you put together plans to “Move it” in March, be sure to share your ideas and photographs with the Allegheny District Chapter. Email pax@nmss.org and put “MS Awareness Week” in the subject line.
