MS Awareness Week 2009
Lipscomb University, College of Pharmacy gather in honor of MS Awareness Week.
Middle TN MS Awareness Week was a huge success this year. Throughout the week many events were held to acknowledge people who are a part of the movement to end the devastating effects of MS, invite new people to join the movement and encourage everyone to take action.
It began with the Move It Monday! Kickoff Party. Over 70 walkers, bikers and MS activists came out to hear special guest speakers including Harold Moses, M.D. with the Vanderbilt MS Center and MS Ambassador Amy Scott. Nashville Mayor Karl Dean issued a proclamation which was read at the event encouraging the citizens of Nashville to join him in recognizing the importance of Multiple Sclerosis awareness.
Middle TN Discovery Day was also held during MS Awareness Week at Saint Thomas Hospital. The focus this year was on overall health and wellness. Keynote speakers included Robert Fallis, M.D. with Saint Thomas Neurology and Ann Jackson, M.D. with Saint Thomas Cardiology. Breakout sessions were conducted on Exercise and Strength Training by Trent Nessler, M.P.T., Managing Director of Baptist Sports Medicine and Nutrition with Randy Pendergrass, L.S.N., C.S.C.S. from Saint Thomas.
This was the 4th annual coordinated MS Awareness Week which was created to lead in to the annual Public Policy Conference in Washington, D.C.
