Panhandle Office honors Ambassador Teel Bivins
The National MS Society’s corporate-focused event honoring organizations and individuals who are leaders in their communities.
Former Ambassador Teel Bivins and the late Betty Bivins Lovell were the National MS Society's 2008 Hope Award recipients. Ambassador Bivins was honored during the annual Dinner of Champions in November, 2009 at the Glove-News Center for the Performing Arts. A posthumous honor was given for his mother, the late Betty Bivins Lovell.
Flanked by his family, close friends and business associates, Ambassador Bivins accepted the award from Paul Engler, 2007 Hope Award recipient.
More than just pioneer of land, the Bivins family has long been revered for their generations of philanthropy, pioneering and financially backing many of the projects that make the Amarillo area what it is today. Ambassador BIvins continues the family's legacy of giving instilled in him by his mother, making both of them fitting recipients of the National MS Society's highest honor.
The 2008 Dinner of Champions raised $50,000, much of which is earmarked for financial assistance. In 2008, the All America Chapter dedicated $90,000 to help meet the financial needs of those living with MS. Thanks to families like the Bivins, and events like the Dinner of Champions, in 2009, the All America Chapter will spend more than ever - an estimated $120,000, on financial assistance.
