Harmons’ Vice Presidents, Bob and Randy Harmon, lead a group of 10 Team Harmons’ Bike MS participants in a bicycle trek from Harmons’ Store to the Utah State Chapter of the National MS Society Office.
Upon arrival Team Harmons presented a check to MS Society officials for more than $117,223. Team Harmons' Bike MS Team is still fundraising but has raised an additional $56,000 to date. The ride demonstrates Harmons’ recent team effort with the community to raise money for MS over the month of June. For the 10th year Harmons served as the title sponsor of the National MS Society’s Annual Best Dam Bike Ride. The team of 170 Harmons’ associates, families and friends raised money for MS. Harmons’ stores sold bratwursts or hot dogs meals for $3, every weekend in June and accepted contributions at check stands for $1, $3 or $5. Harmons also sponsored a charity golf tournament in June for vendors.
“This charity is very close to our hearts because we have many friends and family members who are among the 30,000 Utahns affected by the debilitating effects of MS every day,” says Bob Harmon, Vice President for the Customer. Utah has one of the highest incidence rates of multiple sclerosis in the nation. Every mile ridden and every dollar raised helps provide research as well as essential services such as: information and referral, physical therapy and exercise classes, professional and community education, seminars, family social events, advocacy, workshops, support groups and a lending library.
