Care-A-Lot Pet Supply Donates $30,000 to MS Research
Virginia Beach, Va. (September 15, 2008) --- Care-A-Lot Pet Supply, one of the leading pet supply companies in the nation, is donating $30,000 to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society for MS research. A formal check presentation will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at Care-A-Lot Pet Supply, 1924 Diamond Springs Road in Virginia Beach with representatives from Care-A-Lot Pet Supply and the National MS Society, Hampton Roads Chapter Staff.
Denise Clarke, vice president of Care-A-Lot Pet Supply was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2002. She wanted to create a fun and light-hearted way to raise funds for MS Research. Working with pet supply vendors, Care-A-Lot Pet Supply created the MS Research Loofa Dog toy. By selling the toy at Care-A-Lot Pet Supply retail locations in Virginia Beach and Newport News, Va., through their catalog and on their website, the toy sold out within months. The profit from the MS Research Loofa Dog Campaign totaled $30,000 and will be used for the National MS Society’s vital research projects. Care-A-Lot Pet Supply and the Clarke Family want to support the National MS Society's Promise 2010 Campaign to help raise $30 million by 2010.
“The National MS Society addresses the challenges of people whose lives are affected by MS,” says Sharon Grossman, president of the Hampton Roads Chapter. “Those challenges include finding the cause and a cure for multiple sclerosis. With the support of Care-A-Lot Pet Supply, we will create a world a free of MS.”
The MS Research Loofa Dog toy was the first product in a pipeline being created by Care-A-Lot Pet Supply. One hundred percent of the profits from Care-A-Lot’s MS product line will be donated to the National MS Society to fund various research projects. Included in the line will be toys, collars, ID tags, cat products, etc. Clarke plans to launch new items indefinitely.
