Part of the mission of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is to advocate for the rights of people with MS. Advocacy can mean voicing concerns or providing awareness. We believe that when the members of the MS Society work together, we can enhance services, preserve the independence, and protect the rights of people with MS.
By working with policymakers, encouraging people to communicate with lawmakers, and nurturing respect for people who must confront MS, we can make a difference.
We encourage you to join us and raise your voice to demand consideration on behalf of the MS community.
Many MS activists are individuals living with MS. Some are friends and family members. Others get involved simply because they recognize their passion and ability to help move us closer to a world free of MS.
Ways to Get Involved:
- Join the MS Activist Network and receive e-mail alerts on MS issues that need urgent action. We can help you learn about the issues, identify decision makers, and communicate effectively.
- Share your passion for MS activism and encourage people to get involved in advocacy. You can magnify your voice by telling others; each new voice strengthens our efforts and our ability to impact change. The more people we can get involved, the closer we are to a world free of MS.
- Contact your local, state, and federal legislators when an issue arises that affects people with MS. You can do this from your home or office. Simply pick up the phone or write an e-mail or letter.
- Participate in your state’s annual MS Action Day and help educate your legislators about the challenges of living with MS.
- Speak up! If you hear about an issue affecting people with MS, contact us. We will work together to explore the issue and take action.
