2010 Bike MS

Saturday, June 5 - Sunday, June 6, 2010

Location: Virginia's Eastern Shore

  • Set-up/Break-Down (6-10 people): Meet staff at the start in Cape Charles to help set up Saturday morning and/or pack up on Sunday.
  • Registration (30-35 people): Check in cyclists, help pin on rider numbers and other assigned duties Saturday morning. Volunteers selecting registration may also choose to work at the Lunch Stop, Rest Stops 4-6 or the Finish Line at Camp Silver Beach.
  • Rest Stops (4-5 people per stop/ 6-7 stops each day): Serve water, food and good cheer to the cyclists.
  • Lunch Stop (15 people/ 1 stop each day): Help set up, make sandwiches, serve food and water and cheer on cyclists.
  • Finish Line (MUST BE ABLE TO WORK UNTIL 5:00PM BOTH DAYS; 6-10 people each day): Greet and cheer on cyclists. Provide cold towels to cyclists on Saturday; hand out medals and cold towels on Sunday.
  • Sign Sweep (2-3 people each day): Remove route markers, stakes, etc along the route each day. Driver must have their own vehicle.
  • SAG Driver (12-14 vehicles each day): Provide transportation to cyclists and their bikes along the route as needed. Driver must provide own vehicle and have a valid driver's license and car insurance.
  • Truck Driver Team (6 people): Must be at least 25 years old; drive a 16' supply truck or ride shotgun; deliver and pick up supplies for rest stops; heavy lifting necessary.
  • Luggage Handler (15-20 people): Help load and unload cyclist's luggage at Cape Charles and Silver Beach Saturday and Sunday.

2010 Challenge Walk MS

Saturday, Sept. 25 - Sunday, Sept. 26, 2010

Location: Williamsburg, VA

  • Super Crew: Extraordinary volunteer who works both event days and fundraises too. Participates in all event festivities and enjoys all the same perks as the Walkers. $45 Registration Fee.
  • Crew Member: Dedicated volunteer who works both event days. Enjoys dinner and entertainment Saturday evening and breakfast Sunday morning at the host hotel. $45 Registration Fee.
  • Volunteer: Spitirted individual who volunteers for a shift for one or both days of the Challenge Walk. No Registration Fee. Saturday evening dinner and Sunday breakfast are not available to Volunteers.

2010 Walk MS

Saturday, October 2, 2010 Ft. Eustis

Sunday, October 3, 2010 Mt. Trashmore

  • Volunteer Coordinators - Each day (3-4): Check in all volunteers and handout t-shirts and prizes.
  • Registration - Each day (25-30): Check-in the walkers, hand out t-shirts and other duties as assigned.
  • Rest Stops - (4-5 per stop): Serve water, food, and good cheer to walkers.
  • Food Finish - Each day (12-15): Help set up tables and food. Congratulate walkers, serve food, drinks, desserts. Can also be registration volunteers.
  • Route Markers - Each day (3-4 people with pick up trucks or vans): Place signs to guide walkers along the route. Will require hammering and stapling.
  • Sign Sweep - Each day (2 people with truck or van): Follow behind last walker and remove route markers, stakes, etc.
  • Clean up Crew - Each day (20): Break down tables, chairs, dispose all trash and help load supply trucks.
