Fundraising Tips

SET A GOAL!
Set a goal that is realistic, but also a stretch. Last year participants averaged over $100 each in the Inland Northwest Chapter events.
BE PREPARED.
Start collecting early because there are a lot of spring fundraising events.
PHONE YOUR FRIENDS.
Ask friends, family, neighbors and coworkers to support this cause.
DEVELOP A LIST.
Make a list of places where you spend money, then ask them to help fight MS.
START YOUR OWN PUBLICITY CAMPAIGN.
Write a story about why you are involved with the Society and Walk MS/Bike MS. Include a fun picture or quote. Send it over email or regular mail.
TAP INTO YOUR COMPANY.
Many companies spend thousands of dollars to bring “team” training to their employees to aid productivity and enhance morale. Team participation in Walk MS/Bike MS is a great way for companies to support employees and the community. Corporate teams offer additional promotional opportunities when team members wear company and/or product logos on hats, t-shirts and jackets at the event. Many companies also match employee donations so the money you turn in at Walk MS/Bike MS is doubled.
KNOW YOUR FACTS.
Learn as much as possible about multiple sclerosis and the National MS Society. Help us increase awareness about multiple sclerosis.
PRESENT A CHALLENGE.
Walk, Bike or donate. Challenge everyone you know to either join you or donate.
CHART YOUR COURSE.
Make a money thermometer to share with your friends, family and co-workers how close you are to success.
HAVE FUN.
Sponsor your own mini-event or a “crazy challenge.” Think about what your friends or co-workers would pay to see you do.

Here are some helpful suggestions to get you started.
It’s easy and it’s rewarding!
1. Start by sponsoring YOURSELF.
2. Ask two family members to sponsor you.
3. Ask five friends to contribute.
4. Ask five co-workers to contribute.
5. Ask five neighbors to sponsor you.
6. Ask your boss for a company contribution. Better yet, find out if your company will match what you raise.
7. Ask two businesses or companies that you deal with to sponsor you.
