Volunteers at the National MS Society at the local and national level are integral partners in the fight against multiple sclerosis. Volunteers across the country contribute resources - time, knowledge, skills and leadership - that infuse the society with energy and passion - helping to "end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis."
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society strives to be known and respected for excellence in volunteerism among the country's voluntary health agencies. Volunteers work as partners at all level. Their contributions are embraced, valued and recognized. Volunteer involvement is enhanced through training programs and tools. The National MS Society provides growth and development to everyone involved in our programs. Our large network of volunteers and dedicated in the mission of the society.
There are four general level of involvement:
Leadership volunteers
Includes trustees, board committee members, advocacy volunteers, event chairs and committee members, research advocates, and leadership ambassadors.
Administrative volunteers
Includes receptionists, data entry, and filing volunteers. (Requires Customer Service Protocol Certification).
Program volunteers
Includes self-help group leaders, Information and Resources (I & R) volunteers, library volunteers, peer counselors, nursing home or school speakers, and "friendly visitors"
Fund-raising volunteers
Includes Helping Hands participants, event participants who recruit others to participate or to sponsor them, event volunteers and major gifts solicitors.
