Employment

MS strikes adults as they start college, start families, and start careers.

Are you avoiding medical treatment to keep your health status secret from your employer? Have you received negative comments about your effectiveness on the job? Do you have episodes of staggering, slurring, or falling asleep at your desk?

Employment Specialists

Many people think that they need to quit work because of their MS and do so prematurely. Overwhelmed in the early days and months of the diagnosis, and unaware of their rights under the law, they make impulsive employment decisions. The National MS Society has specialists available to discuss employment concerns by phone: 1-800-344-4867 and press Option 1 or email us.

Employer Support & Education

Disclosing a diagnosis of MS to an employer can be a difficult decision for people with MS. If the decision to disclose is made, we have information available that can be shared with employers to help answer many questions that might arise.
