PROGRAMS INTERN

Join the Movement. Our Wisconsin Chapter has an exciting opportunity for an unpaid Programs Intern. This unpaid internship is designed to assist the National MS Society-Wisconsin Chapter Programs staff and volunteers in helping fulfill the Chapter mission and achieve department goals and objectives. The intern would provide support especially in the educational areas of promoting knowledge, health and independence for clients with MS, their families and caregivers. The intern will assist with training and developing relationships with self-help leaders and provide support to select help groups. Also, help in responding to individual requests for information and assistance. Maintain lending library and literature supplies as needed for Programs department. The intern will do some data entry to maintain our service provider database. In addition, support the organizations mission to mobilize people and resources to drive research for a cure and to address the challenges of everyone affected by MS. The role requires current enrollment in an accredited college or university for a Bachelor or Graduate program in any Allied Health Profession, Education, Social Services, Communications or Public Relations. Experience in working with people with disabilities is preferred. A background in public speaking or training is a plus. The candidate must possess strong organizational and planning skills, relationship building skills, the ability to effectively work on several complex projects simultaneously; and the willingness to work some evening and weekends when programs occur. The candidate must have good computer software skills particularly in Word, Outlook and Excel, strong oral and written communication skills, the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, speak effectively in public, and motivate others to achieve Chapter goals through enthusiasm and positive attitude. Must be able to follow through on directives with limited supervision. There is some travel involved in the position, and the candidate must have a valid driver's license and be able to travel to local and out-of-town conferences and programs as requested by director. Must posses the ability to be creative and have a high level of professionalism. The ability to maintain the Chapter’s policy of confidentiality is also a qualification for this position.


COMMUNICATIONS INTERN

Join the Movement. Our Wisconsin Chapter has an exciting career opportunity for an unpaid Communications Intern. This unpaid internship is designed to assist the National MS Society-Wisconsin Chapter raise awareness through publication of its quarterly newsletter, e-communications, press releases and related projects. The intern will work closely with the Development Director. The intern will play an active role in writing articles and researching information for the Chapter newsletter. The intern will also draft press releases and write copy for sales sheets and may also assist in researching and drafting foundation grants. Qualifications include working on attaining an undergraduate or graduate degree, excellent writing skills, excellent oral communication and phone skills, interest in learning about non-profit communications, public relations and development, comfortable speaking to others and working with a variety of people, familiarity with the media, helpful but not required, ability to work independently and take initiative, especially on research projects, strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, strong computer skills.
