Governor Jim Doyle, flanked by Senator Alberta Darling and dedicated volunteers of the Wisconsin Chapter, signs Senate Bill 167, creating a tax check-off for MS. You made it happen! On December 21, 2005, Governor Doyle and members of the Wisconsin State Legislature created Wisconsin Act 71.
This law creates a voluntary charitable “check-off” for Wisconsin State Income Tax Returns to fund MS Programs. To appear on spring, 2007 tax forms and beyond, this “check-off” will fund MS Programs. Donations to it will provide financial aid for home and automobile modifications, durable medical equipment, respite care among other expenses, and will help people maintain their independence at home.
In Wisconsin, MS is a one-half billion dollar disease, annually -- due to lost wages and increased medical expenses, among other costs. Donations to this program will be administered by the National MS Society - Wisconsin Chapter, and will help people maintain their independence at home.
