Established in 1950, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Alabama Chapter proudly serves 4,100 in the state of Alabama affected by MS, including friends, family members, caregivers and professionals. We provide many educational programs which help people who are touched by multiple sclerosis.
In 2009 the Alabama Chapter merged with the Mississippi office with its service to more than 2,300 people affected by MS. This will allow the new Alabama - Mississippi Chapter to more effectively serve over 6,000 people with MS in Alabama and Mississippi. We are an informational resource, here to provide material to those who need information on symptoms, coping, communicating and assisting. We also work to promote community awareness of this neurological disease which affects more than 400,000 Americans. Members of the National MS Society, Alabama - Mississippi Chapter receive our newsletter and mailings about programs, events and volunteer opportunities. Many of our programs and services are free or require nominal fees.
Every day we focus on our mission, to create a world free of multiple sclerosis, with our programs and funds generated from our special events and generous gifts from those who want to help us meet our mission. We value the partnerships that develop with those who support us through events such as Bike MS, Stand Against MS, Walk MS, our clinic affiliations, and the outstanding volunteers that assist us each and every day.
