Volunteer Job Descriptions

You will be asked to select your areas of interest when you register to volunteer. While we will take your preferences into consideration while making assignments, some positions have limited availability and are filled on a first come first served basis. We appreciate your flexibility in filling high priority positions as needed. Times may vary slightly depending on the position.

FRCC = Front Range Community College Campus, Westminster
CSU = Colorado State University Campus, Fort Collins

Route Marshal Crew
Saturday and Sunday (on route) – 4-8 hour shift ranging from early morning to late afternoon
Route Marshals cover the route to provide safety, motivation and direction for our riders. They direct riders at turns, traffic signals and tricky intersections as well as cheer them on.

Luggage Crew
Saturday (FRCC) – 4:30 - 8:30 a.m.
Saturday (CSU) – 4 hour shift between 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Sunday (CSU) – 4:30 - 8:30 a.m.
Sunday (FRCC) – 4 hour shift between 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m

The Luggage Crew ensures luggage is tagged correctly and loads/unloads it into trucks. With more than 3,000 cyclists, this can be a heavy job. The larger the Luggage Crew the less lifting to do, so this is a great opportunity for friends, family or large groups.

Fort Collins Loop Route Marshals
Saturday (CSU) – 2-4 hour shiftranging from early morning to late afternoon.
Route Marshals will be placed along the 25 or 40 mile route to direct riders at turns, traffic signals and tricky intersections as well as cheer them on.

Fort Collins Loop Cheer Crew
Saturday (CSU) – 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
This group will cheer on cyclists as they start and then again at the finish of the 25 or 40 mile route at CSU.

Fort Collins Loop Volunteer Check In Crew
Saturday (CSU) – 7:30-11:30 a.m.
The Volunteer Check In Crew assists with setting up the volunteer check-in station, and checking in, directing, and recording volunteer attendance.

Warehouse Crew
Thursday (Westminster) – Afternoon TBD
Friday (Westminster) – Morning TBD

The Warehouse Crew helps organize, load and unload Bike MS supplies.  The Warehouse Crew must be able to lift 40 pounds safely.

Start and Finish Line Cheer Crew
Saturday (FRCC) – 5:30 - 8:30 a.m.
Saturday (CSU) – 11:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
Sunday (CSU) – 5:30 - 8:30 a.m.
Sunday (FRCC) – 11:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.

This group will cheer on cyclists as they finish their trek on Saturday and pump them up before the start the climb on Sunday. This group will then head to FRCC to congratulate riders with a finisher medal.

Bike Corral Crew
Saturday (CSU) – 10:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Sunday (CSU) – 5:00 - 9:00 a.m.
Sunday (CSU) – 3:00 - 6:30 p.m.

The Bike Corral Crew will assist with storing and securing participant bikes. They will set up bike racks and signage, welcome riders and assist them with locating and retrieving their bikes on Sunday morning. This group will also assist with tearing down the bike racks and loading them on a truck.

Check In Crew
Friday (FRCC) – 2:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Saturday (FRCC) – 4:30 - 8:30 a.m.(Prefer two day commitment)

The Check-In Crew assists with the registration and packet pickup process at FRCC. They will set up the check-in station, collect donations, retrieve materials and answer participant questions, then clean up materials and load on truck.

Hydration Station Crew
Saturday (FRCC) – 5:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
Saturday (CSU) – 4-6 hour shift between 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Sunday (FRCC) – 4-6 hour shift between 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Sunday (CSU) – 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.

The Hydration Station Crew will set up beverage stations and a liaison for the ice vendor. This group will prepare water and sport drink in jugs with ice and fill cyclists’ water bottles, fill baby pools with bottled beverages and ice and replenish beverage throughout the event.

Venue Set Up and Tear Down Crew
Saturday and Sunday (FRCC & CSU) – multiple times throughout the weekend
The Set Up and Tear Down Crew will unload fencing, set up bike racks, prepare signage for luggage, shuttles, bike corral, Team Village and more. The Crew will then tear everything down post-event.

Beer Garden and Grounds Keeping Crew
Saturday (CSU) – 4-6 hour shift between 11:00 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.
The Beer Garden Crew assists Left Hand brewery with the setup and clean up in the Beer Garden at CSU. Crew members will be responsible for checking IDs and wristbands as well as redirecting underage participants. This crew will hang banners and set up and break down chairs. Must be 21 years old.

Team Village Crew
Saturday (CSU) – 4-6 hour shift between 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
The Team Village Crew will set-up, maintain and breakdown the Team Village area. Crew members are responsible for directing cyclists and supporters. Crew members must be able to lift 40 pounds safely.

Environmental Services Crew
Saturday (FRCC) – 4:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
Saturday (CSU) – 6 hours shifts between noon - 9:00 p.m.
Sunday (CSU) – 6:00 - 9:00 a.m.
Sunday (FRCC) – 10:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

The Environmental Services Crew will set up, maintain and break down trash and recycling receptacles, maintains the grounds and ensures all waste is properly disposed of. Great position for a group who wants to work together. Crew members must be able to lift 25 pounds safely.
