MS research continues to move forward at full speed and researchers worldwide remain dedicated to finding new and innovative approaches to managing the disease and stopping MS in its tracks forever.

Leslie Weiner, MD is Professor of Neurology at the Keck School of Medicine at USC. He is also the Richard Angus Grant Sr, Chair in Neurology and Medical Director of the MS Comprehensive Care Center & Research Group. He has been an international leader in MS research; a strong advocate for the MS community for forty years; the leader in advocacy for proactive stem cell research in MS; and a leading volunteer among researchers for the Society. His MS research endeavors include a T-cell vaccine, gene therapy, and stem cell
research. As a clinician, he has cared for hundreds of MS patients and volunteered his services to County/ USC Hospital MS clinic.

of University of Wisconsin Colleen E. Hayes, PhD is Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Hayes and her collaborators were the first to propose that vitamin D obtained from sunlight exposure of the skin might be a natural inhibitor of MS due to the ability of the vitamin D hormone to selectively eliminate autoimmune T cells. Dr. Hayes has served on scientific review committees and advisory committees for the National MS Society, NIH, and the Veteran’s Administration. She is currently serving on a scientific advisory panel for the Department of Defense Medical Research Program in MS, and as the Co-chair of an International Taskforce for Vitamin D and MS Prevention.
