with husband, Ryan, and daughter, Hayley
(written by Taylor Bachus-Heath)
I walk for my husband, Ryan. Ryan’s biggest fear is also his biggest goal; to physically WALK Hayley down the aisle on her wedding day. My goal is to make that happen for the both of them!!!
Ryan was diagnosed less than a year ago. Right off the bat we learned how MS can affect a marriage and parenting. Having to drive him to and from work because of his double vision; canceling summer plans because the heat made every symptom worst; Ryan not being able to hold or carry Hayley because the pain and fatigue were too much from a 22 pound 2-year old.
I was angry, sad and most of all scared. I decided that I was going to do everything within my power to channel those feelings into something positive! We switched to the paleo lifestyle; I read every article that comes my way and research it, encouraging Ryan to start working out and playing basketball; and raising funds and awareness by participating in Walk MS!
We only have so much within our control and doing those things makes me feel so much better when it felt like my little world was turned upside down.
