FROM THE CHAPTER STAFF
Amy Keller
Dear Friend,

My relationship with the National MS Society started when my Mom (pictured with me to the right) was diagnosed with MS when I was 10 years old. I vividly remember her showing me brochures from the Society explaining what MS is and the ways it could affect her health and our lives. From that point on, this organization has been close to my heart. Throughout my childhood, I participated in Read-a-Thons and Walks and attended family programs provided by the local chapter. A few years after starting my career in social work, I accepted a position at the Ohio Buckeye Chapter. After working there for four years, I had the opportunity to move to San Diego with the love of my life and as luck would have it, the local chapter was hiring an equivalent position and I got the job!

Eight years later, I am now the Director of Clinical Programs and Services. I plan educational programs such as the San Diego Symposium, I work with people with MS in both clinical and home settings, and I collaborate closely with community partners who provide care management and chore services. My current project is the Women’s Wellness Weekend, which is taking place September 16-18, 2011.

I am truly grateful that I am able to help out individuals and families the way that my family was helped by the National MS Society when I was younger. I feel lucky to be part of such a dedicated organization that has the common goal of creating a world free of MS. And if that means I’m out of a job one day, I’m more than okay with that!

Cheers,
Amy Keller
