When I tell people I'm the Senior Director of Strategic Philanthropy, I often am asked, “So what does that mean?” Honestly, it’s a fancy way of saying that I ensure that no stone is unturned when it comes to funding our mission. Everyone knows millions are raised at our fundraising events (see the upcoming fall events later in this email), but where does the rest of our funding come from?
It comes from the support of individual giving, grants, workplace campaigns, DIY Fundraising, and much more. It's through people like Bob Woodard who championed the funding of the Turkey Program (see page 3 of the MSConnection), Bud and Cheryl Pry who left their home to the chapter, which will fund several programs and Volunteers Against MS (VIMS), which has hosted an annual third party fundraising event for over 25 years funding the Bob Webster Scholarship Fund.
Every day I am touched by people’s passion and dedication. It’s time for us all to get creative, ask boldly, and reach further than we ever have before. I know I am not going to rest until there is a cure, won’t you join me?
We are still in need of many volunteers at our fall events. Give your time for a few hours or the whole weekend. Contact Linda at firstname.lastname@example.org or (760) 448-8416 for more information and to sign up!
