Although only 5% of MS patients have a clinical onset before the age of 18 years, pediatric MS gives us a window of opportunity to study the disease closer to exposures that contribute to its onset. In addition, the effect of age as a disease modifier is striking in this patient group, unraveling differences compared to adult MS that may help understand better disease processes. Read more.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune and neurodegenerative disorder that results from complex interactions between inherited (genes) and environmental factors. The ideal therapy in MS would target an underlying causal mechanism of disease. Most research into the cause of MS has focused on identifying individual genetic and environmental risk factors, with little investigation or understanding for how these may combine to induce MS. Service Provider Highlights
The Goodwill Fitness and Technology Center in Orange County offers unique programs for individuals with disabilities including state of the art fitness equipment, trained staff, classes and assistive technologies support.

The Challenge Center in San Diego County offers a wide array of services focused on improving health, function and quality of life for individuals with disabilities. Services such as adapted fitness training, physical therapy evaluations and therapeutic classes are offered on a sliding scale.
