Team Fundraising

User Options:

One of the benefits of a team is being able to fundraise together. Each returning team member is required to raise the minimum pledge of $1,500 with NEW team members required to raise $1,000. Plan an event and advertise! This section will show you how to get an early start and lead your team to fundraising success! Check out some of the top team fundraising ideas.

Team Fundraising Policy

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society encourages teams to fundraise together to make the experience better for each individual. It has become practice to use “team covers” in order to reach the fundraising minimum of $1,500. To help this event grow, a policy has been put into place by the Gateway Area Chapter and the Dean Team Automotive Challenge Walk MS Committee. Only new registrants will be able to have a team cover their agreed minimum pledge of $1,000. If an individual has participated in previous years, money will not be moved from one team member to another in order to reach goal. This is an essential step in moving this event forward. In 2009 our goal is to raise $550,000 for programs and research for the 6,000 individuals in the Gateway Area living with MS.

Top Team Fundraising Ideas

Trivia Night - Pick a place and the material. Invite your friends, co-workers and family members to attend.

Live/Silent Auction - Ask local businesses to donate items or gift certificates. Set a minimum donation and start the bidding!

Team Car Wash
- Go to your local car wash or gas station and talk to the owner or manager about doing a fundraising event there. Post flyers and make posters to advertise.

Company Sponsorship - Ask your company to sponsor the team by providing team T-shirts or by donating a certain amount of money. Make sure to ask them if they have a matching gift program.

Bake Sale - Have your team members make their best recipes and bring them to work for breakfast or lunch. You can also get permission from local businesses to set up a table and sell your baked goods there.

Put Yourself On the Line - Offer to do something unusual (i.e., shave your head, sing karaoke in a costume of the team’s choice, etc.) if your team reaches or exceeds its fundraising goal.

Local Restaurant/Bar - Ask your favorite restaurant or bar to donate a percentage of one evening’s income to your team, possibly in return for sponsor privileges.

Dress Down Days - For a donation, an employee can dress casually. Make it more fun and increase awareness by giving out pins or stickers that advertise your team for employees to wear as their “pass” for dressing down.

Brown Bag It - Encourage everyone to “brown bag it” one day at work instead of going out for lunch. Have them contribute $5 to your Challenge Walk MS Team.

Team Drawing - Set up a drawing for the team, with each $50 raised netting you another chance to win a prize. (For friends: A special home-cooked meal for the winner and their family. For employees: A day off.)

Just Ask - BE SURE TO ASK EVERYONE YOU KNOW!
