Charleston Challenge Regulations

User Options:

1. Safety is the #1 Priority
We do everything we can to ensure the safety of all participants. We expect all participants will personally assume the responsibility of safety for themselves and fellow walkers.

  • Obey all traffic laws, law enforcement officers and route guidelines.
  • No running (this is a walking event).
  • Participants may not walk while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • Participants may not remain on the route after the last sweep of the day.
  • Participants must use sidewalks when available.

We reserve the right to remove you from the route and/or event at any time should you choose to violate any of the above safety standards.

2. Medical Insurance
Each participant must have valid medical health insurance to participate in the Charleston Challenge 2012. You will be required to fill out a medical questionnaire, provide your medical health insurance information and sign a medical waiver prior to the event.

3. Minors
All participants walking in the Charleston Challenge 2012 must be at least 14 years old. No exceptions.

4. Identification
All participants will be issued walker credentials at check-in that must be worn throughout the entire event. Credentials allow use of route support, such as rest stops, and entry into the banquet hall for meals.

5. Pets
Sorry, no pets are allowed on the Charleston Challenge 2012. Registered service animals accepted.

6. Walk Times
Each day the route will open and close at specified times. Any participants who have not completed the course by the closing time will be transported to the finish line. The route times will be published at the event.

7. Weather
The Charleston Challenge 2012 takes place rain or shine…..so be prepared for whatever Mother Nature will may bring!

8. Courtesy
We encourage a family atmosphere during the event and promote respect, courtesy and support among every participant and staff member.

9. Daily Check-In
All participants are required to check-in every day at lunch and the finish line. If you need to leave the route at any time, you must notify a staff member of the National MS Society.

10. Earphones & Cell Phones
Participants are not permitted to wear earphones or talk on cell phones while on the route.
